Melissa Heenan, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Melissa Heenan grew up in Green Bay and currently resides in Appleton, Wisconsin. She received an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay and earned a DVM degree from Washington State University. Prior to joining the Animal Hospital of Howard team, Dr. Heenan practiced at the American Animal Hospital in Neenah and did shelter work at the Sheboygan County Humane center. Her special interests include wellness care, small critters (rabbits, ferrets, etc), soft tissue surgery, shelter medicine and spay/neuter.
Outside of the practice, Dr. Heenan is very involved in the local SCA chapter, a living history society focused on the Middle Ages, where she enjoys activities such as camping, costuming, various types of weaving/fiber arts, music, and calligraphy. She has also been involved in several animal rescues and is passionate about Trap/Neuter/Return for feral cats.
Dr. Heenan and her husband recently became first-time parents and are thoroughly taken with watching their daughter develop and overcome her health obstacles. They also share their home with a small kingsnake, named Sindri and four cats: Mila, a senior lady with eye issues; Java, who has brain damage and tremors; Myshka, a semi-feral; and Uxbridge, named after an Earl who also lost his right leg. All are rescues.
